Where in Houston are you?
I lived in West University Place for my freshman year (last year) and I frequented the usual three stores in the area--Joanns, Michaels, and Hobby Lobby--mostly because they were right across the street. There's also The Bead Shop in Rice Village where a friend-of-a-friend worked before leaving for school herself.
If you are interested in art supplies as well, I recommend the Art Supply store on Montrose, I think between Westheimer and Gray. They have a lot of stuff that definitely inspired me in all ways every time I went. And of course everywhere in Montrose is worth looking into, I can think of a couple of craft and vintage stores but I really can't remember their names right now.
Man, I miss Houston sometimes...  Cry
