Snuggles for Shelter Animals

I actually just posted about the snuggles project. I've donated a few snuggles so far, it makes you feel good about yourself. I have my dogs test them out before I wrap them and send them to a shelter.

This is awesome, I've already started making blankets! Animals/ animal rights are so important to me, this is such a great idea. And I make blankets for humans too. Depends on the size of the yarn scraps.

You all are so awesome!  It makes me happy to see that other people are doing this and other things to help out animals, and that the word is being spread.  It's amazing to me how just a tiny effort can make a big difference in the lives of others whether they are human or animal.  Thanks everyone!

I've made a few dozen more and posted them here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=337274.0 to help spread the word!  I don't knit, crochet or quilt, but I do sew and was able to utilize thrift store blankets and fabric remnants to make a lot of blankets for not much money and probably no more time that it take to make one blanket via these other methods, so don't count yourself out just because you don't craft in certain media.

Kudos to you! I too sew up blankets and small beds for the animal shelter in town and it is such a simple thing that really does help them out a lot. So glad to see that there are others helping

Love, love, love this thread! I work at a humane society and we have these blankets on our wish list for our cat and dog kennels and believe me we go through them. Like someone else mentioned, doesn't matter your skill: you can sew, crochet, knit, tie fleece blankets together or be a good thrifter that finds cheap blankets! It definitely beats an animal sleeping in a metal kennel or concrete floor.  I've made catnip toys(with feather or ribbon tails) from scraps and also use leftover fleece to make braided dog tug toys. Every bit helps.
