I definitely think that would work well. What's great about this pattern is that the gauge isn't essential, so you can really use whatever yarn you want.

I wonder if holding the 2 pieces of yarn together will make the dropped stitches look like twice as many rows? If that makes sense? I think that would be neat.

In order for them to do that you'd have to make sure not to twist them around each other, but I bet that would look cool

Yes, laceweight doubled would be a good sub.

I got to the first row of dropping stitches. I'm afraid my yarn might not be smooth enough for this pattern now, the rows got all tangled up and I had to pull them apart. Pooey.

i love jeanie! it looks so lovely!

i plan on just doing chart A, 3 or 4 repeats of chart C, and chart A. and i will use it more like a scarf.

not sure what yarn yet. i've made a clapotis so i know the yarn has to be on the smooth side for the stitch dropping. i used sportweight yarn with my clapotis and it turned out pretty good. i'm probably going to use some kind of sock yarn tho. a bluish colorway like the one on knitty.

im excited to see other people's jeanies!

I tried a bit to see if I liked it for a scarf.  The m1s are a bit loopy, maybe I should wait one more row before I do them?  Also, my cable edging didn't turn out very nice.  I think I messed something up.  (I didn't graft at the end, I just did 3 needle bind-off since I was just testing, but I mean the rest doesn't look so great either.)  I wasn't sure what size needle to use since it's recycled yarn.  Maybe a size bigger?  Otherwise, I like it!  Cheesy

Anyone else have progress pics?
