This is a project that I finished up a couple of weeks ago.  It's one of the many handmade gifts that my husband and I will be giving this year.  This particular piece is for my BIL.

He's an outdoorsy kind of fella and I thought that something with a tree would suit him.  He actually had a shirt made up a while ago that said "Thanks Trees!"  I imagine it's about oxygen, pretty leaves and such.  That's half the reason I added the little stencil in the corner.  The other reason it's there is because I (foolishly) applied the iron to the cheap fleece the top side is made of.

The bottom of the blanket had an embroidered tree in the corner.  I used an image that I found on DeviantArt to create an embroidery pattern.  You can see the image here.  My rendition is not absolutely the same, but I think it turned out well nonetheless.

I backed the fleece with a piece of jersey that I've had around forever.  I'm glad I finally found a project for it that worked so well.  To keep the two pieces together I used some antique shell buttons from my collection.

I also added a little tag so that the blanket can be hung up on a hook if need be.

Here's some pictures:

If anyone has any questions or comments I'd love to hear them!

Honestly anyone can embroidery.  It's basically like tracing with thread once you have your pattern down.  There's so many easy peasy stitches out there it's no problem to learn.

I was majorly intimiated by the craft before I started it, but three stitches in I was wondering what I was so scared of.  You should try!

The description makes me think I'd love this, but, alas, I cannot see the photos? Can you repost them, Scatter?
