frightful 90s sweater transformed into fluffy boots

Hello!

I just found out about this community and it's challenge. This was really my cup of tea (two lumps of sugar please... )!
My life is all about thrifty finds. Almost everything in my house is second hand and I even worked in a thrift store (= 'kringloopwinkel' in Belgium) some while ago. I am really passioned about making something out of nothing, giving value to things other people find worthless.

So off I went hunting   I knew already what I was going to make: a pair of thick, HOT slippers for using inside the house. (Like a lot of women I often suffer from cold feet.) I easily found an atrocious jumper, made out of a hideous printed(!) fleece. As you see on the price-label, it costed me 2,50€ (or 3,66$)





Somewhere in a distant corner of the house I found a boring, slightly dirty pillow to use as the filler of my booties. When I opened it, the first thing that I thought was  " OMG! The hair of a dead afro-head"... Really horrifying at first, but now I know better: It's amazing warm stuff  !



I started sewing since a couple of months, so this was really a challenge! I almost gave up on it, but here they are... I am quite proud of them!!!

Surprise! You can wear them in two ways, cuffed or uncuffed. When cuffed, another pearl is peeping out.

AWESOME!! I need to get me a pair of boots like that! I too suffer from cold feet (and my slippers just don't do the job), so it would be really great. Plus...I just can't believe that a shirt is now shoes! That's just plain cool.

I am sorry that I don't have pictures of the making of but if someone's interested I can try to make a tutorial on this. At the moment I am thinking of making a pair of boots for my mum to. She adores leopard printed stuff and I have still this boring fleece scarf... The fun of these boots is that you really can personalize them.
At first I wanted to put soles under them but that was one step to far for me. That was the part when I almost gave up on them. The soles were made from an old ugly backpack, it was a green and a red sole, would have been great. But I'll keep those for when I am a bit better at sewing
