So I got this suitcase for FREE at a flea market to pretty much carry all the vintage ephemera I bought off a lady there. It was in way bad shape, but I knew I could make it super awesome!

yes, there is more... let me show you it!

First, the ugly...

broken...

DIRTY

Now the awesome...

ready for the "MONSTERously" awesome part now? Ready? READY???

Open up the case to reveal....

MONSTER FUR!!! OMGZ!

MOAR!!!

So, the monster fur lined suitcase has been done before (by me before this, and I'm not sure if anyone else has..) but you've got to admit how awesome the improvement is!

I covered the whole outside with fabric, and then lined the inside with fun fur. It was not the easiest of tasks, and ripping out the old insides was harsh (gah the smell) but I'm very happy with the end results.

Anyway.. thanks for checking dis out!

What great fun!  If I was a cat, I'd want to sleep in there for sure (when it's open, of course).   What did you attach the fabric and fur with?  Did you remove all the hardware and then reattach it?  The outside looks like it came that way and was treated really, really well.

HA!  I just scrolled down to have another look before posting this and saw a cat in the mirror!  Apparently a cat does want to sleep in there!

Wow.  A very dramatic recon.

And monster fur in my favorite color!  Eeeeep!  Me loves this.

I too am curious how you attached the fur.  I would guess upholstery glue, but the fur would be too porous for it to hold.  Inquiring minds wanna know.

Ohhhhh ... I want ... a fun suitcase with monster fur inside would be SUCH a good thing to hold my laptop and metaphysical books. May I borrow your idea? I could see myself with a whole set of these: one for the laptop, one for overnight trips, one for long vacations, maybe a matching purse ...

Aww thanks everyone!!

YES my cat was curious, but they like to sleep ON TOP on suitcases, not inside. She really just wanted me to pet her. I tried to put her in the suitcase for a cute picture, but uh... she ran away. Sad

what I used to attach the fur and fabric is what I've used on the last suitcase I did, which was a clear glue called Fabri-tac (http://www.beaconadhesives.com/cgfab.html) which is totally the best fabric adhesive I've ever used! It kinda smells like super glue, but it holds so great and tacks so quickly!! It's almost better than hot glue imo.

And anyone can do this! It's not hard and it's fun! Cheesy

ETA: I didn't take the hardware off of the suitcase. I actually glued around it. Cheesy With exceptions of a few things (like the feet) but this is more of an art case than something I will use on a plane. Although, I did use the other suitcase I made (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=175373.0) as my carry on two months ago. Cheesy
