Hello quilters!

This is my first quilted anything. It's a cute rainbow progression crazy quilted wall hanging. As you can see, I'm not finished with the hand embroidery and there is no border. The border is the issue here. I cannot for the life of me find the fabric I want to use because I think it doesn't exist. I want to find a rainbow stripe cotton with bold colors. I can find pastel and black with rainbow stripes, but I can't find just striped.

So I have settled on the yellow, but I just don't know if I like it. Please take a look and offer some advice. I just put the top on the fabric for the picture's sake. I've driven all the ladies at the local fabric stores crazy with this. You're my last hope!

Any and all input is greatly appreciated!

Similar to the first one, but without the pink. I am hoping for just a red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple pattern.

Aw man, I totally had exactly what you need but it was a year or so ago.  I'll try to see if I have anymore but I probably don't have enough.

Even knowing that the fabric I want is out there is enough to give me hope. lol I'm starting to think I need to just finish up the embroidery and put it away until I find the fabric instead of obsessing over it.

I find that with my rainbow stuff, black borders make the colours REALLY pop.

I agree -- you have such a nice progression from red to purple -- if you put a rainbow colored border on, it could spoil that.  Black would look awesome.

I agree with the black, too ... it was my first thought when I saw the bright colours.

If that's a little to blah for you, you can look to some of the sparkley holiday dress fabrics, or some metallics on black. Textured velvets would be fantastic, too, and kinda tie it to victorian crazy quilts a bit.

I found a fabulous fabric while in the mountains this weekend. Now I can continue looking for a rainbow stripe for *another* project! This fabric looks perfect next to it! I thought about black, but I really wanted to try a rainbow stripe. The fabric swatch is linked below.

My fav thing is that it has that slight tilt to the pattern that really looks fabulous.

Thank you for all your help!!!
