Anybody else in the UK? Do you know any good place to get erasers / rubber for carving? WH Smiths and our local art shop doesn't do very big sizes. Maybe I should try the internet?

neither do I! Cheesy I have no intention of doing ginormous stamps, little things are right up my alley.

I'm in the UK but have no idea where to get the rubber. WH Smiths has nice erasers but they are only little (2" x 3" tops maybe). There used to be a rubber stamp shop near the British Museum. I will have to have a hunt to see if I can find it again. Smiley

Here are some more resources to help.  The first site has tips and tutorials, but I don't know if they ship to the UK.  The other 2 places are off an old database I have, so I don't know how up to date they are.

http://www.stampeaz.com/

Paddy's Stamping Place, 2b Church Lane, Prestwich, Manchester , Lancashire (UK) - 0161 7985115 ask for Engraving Rubber, Paddy Cosgriff, paddy_melba@hotmail.com

The Stamp Connection in the UK, 14 Edith Road, Faversham, Kent, ME13 8SD, is prepared to sell Speedball carving materials if there is a demand, pink carving material, tel 01795 531860 / fax 01795 530704 sales@thestampconnection.co.uk

You might also want to check out your equivalents of Dollar stores.  Sometimes you can find large erasers there.

Good luck!

Yay! International swapping! Grin

I found the shop I was thinking of, and they sell rubber in their online shop. They are just around the corner from the BM. So this is the main webpage:
http://www.bladerubberstamps.co.uk/

This is the page for the rubber (it took me ages to find it):

Thanks so much Plumcrafty & MunLtStmpr! I'll check those out.

I prefer small sizes too, but in case my partner/s would like something larger, or the design grows out of control! As I use stamps for my paintings something quite simple that can be repeated would probably suit me best too...I often use the sole pattern on my shoes (and it is very therapeutic to stamp around in paint  Grin

I'm actually Swedish, but married to an Englishman, so I'm extra international  Cheesy
