Finished just in time for my sophomore formal and just in time for the challenge!

I made it out of this hideous velvet shirtdress I picked up at goodwill. The dress was shapeless and tasteless, but the material was so rich and gorgeous, I just had to buy it and see what it could become.

Earlier that week, I had bought a brown tank top with a pretty beaded centerpiece at another thrift shop. When I brought the dress home, I knew they were meant to be together. So I rounded up some chiffon for the straps and some satin for the lining, and after some serious meltdowns and some perseverance, I finally created this sassy, sensuous formal dress...

It has a bubble hem which you can kind of see in the picture. Haha, I used the dress's shoulder pads for the boob padding (yes, it had shoulder pads, and yes, I need boob padding), and I also used the same zipper and left the original pocket intact (which came in handy on saturday).

Dress: $4
Tank top: $3
Chiffon: $6
Satin: $3
Grand Total: $16
Not bad. Haha, I spent more money than that on tickets. I promise I'll post pictures from the actual night of the dance if my friends ever get them to me. Questions and comments welcome, of course. Thanks for looking!
-------Edit--------
Ok, I found a picture from the night of the dance...

It's me and my date. I guess nobody took a picture with my full dress.

Oh well, I thought I'd post this one anyway just cause we look kinda cute and it shows the sheerness of the chiffon on the bust. I was going for something sexy but classy...
