This all reminds me of how Jan Spears welded a cage for her dream man Shawn Douglas (days of our lives)
Maybe someone should put a tutorial on how to weld a love cage....lol

Ok now the serious bit.
If someone actually is thinking of making this bag......
 
Use a lighter fabric. I would also double up the fabric on the top and bottom where the strap gets sew into.  This seems to be a week point.

did you use super-strong thread, like silamide or hymark, or did you just use standard all-purpose thread? i was curious if stuffing the bag and then punching it repeatedly would wear through the thread quickly.

I used nylon thread. It's strong stuff.  I also used an industrial sewing machine, but that's only becasue i had to go throught a few layer of vinyl.
