i dont knit, but i crochet, i made these for my knitter freind for her tree!
i started out with a box of 12 cheap glass ornaments from walmart.

i hot glued the end of the yarn to the top...this project took WAY more yarn then i thought it would.

i just kept wrapping it and i glued off the end.
i fouind some old party drink umbrellas, ripped off the top, and they made perfect needles!!

Too cute! I went to the movies yesterday at the mall and for whatever reason Baby Gap had a knitting themed tree, which was actually quite creative. It had similar yarn ball type ornaments in different sizes and colors, and then the garland was a long striped scarf.

So cute! I'm not having a tree this year, so I'm going to ask my mom if I can make some of these for the family tree. She's just picked up knitting again, too, after I don't know how long.

So cute--what a great idea.
I've crocheted ornaments, but I'd never thought of this!

This made me laugh! Must make some off these for the Christmas tree although I'll probably get some weird looks from the boyfriend  Wink

These are very cute!!  I like that you used a ball underneath as to not use even more yarn.  And the umbrella sticks ARE perfect for needles - how awesome!
