.

I took a horrible ugly square jacket from the 80's and a shapeless shirt from a lumber jack and made a new coat and hair slide.
Heres my lovely before picture which makes me look like a convict, nice.

And heres me in the new coat looking more human

Sorry I forgot to take making photos but I cut them both up, ironed them to get the fabric and made my own pattern. The front became the back, I added a vent at the back and a new collar. The brown satin came from the yoke in the shirt. I added lots of odd buttions from the originals or my buttion box. I embroidered the hearts on the sleeves. I like the fact its not symmetrical in every way.

I lined it by cutting down the original lining and sewing it back up.

I am pleased with my new winter coat and think it is no longer ugly.
thanks for looking.  And a big thankyou to my flat mate who took the photos and put up with the mess. Even though he is phobic of buttions.

This is great! I love all the little touches you did with the accent buttons, fabric placement, and the pleat in the back. What an excellent job! Smiley

Wow.
I thought it was gorgeous.
Then I saw the hearts and the squiggley pattern with them (sorry for the lame description!)
Now I'm in love!

That's really cute!  You look much happier and a million times less convict-y in the new version.

My fiance is also afraid of buttons.  Maybe it's a side effect of living with someone crafty.

Your new coat is fabulous! How I wish I had such talent. It looks like a very expensive coat.
