Okay, here are the items I used - a paisley skirt, a white jacket, a teal nightshirt, and a pair of teal maternity pants.  There are detailed pictures of the skirt and the jacket to show off the ugliness.  I spent $.25 on the skirt, nightshirt, and pants, and $1.00 on the white jacket.

I crocheted the purse using the skirt cut up into strips and then attatched to each other.  The purse is a single crochet with one base chain and crocheted in one piece with no sewing  of the actual purse.  The handles of the purse are crocheted into the bag.  The flower is a crocheted circle with one round of the white jacket material in double crochet and then two rows of the teal night shirt with single chains one in the front of the double crochet and one in the back of the double crochet.  The button in the center came on the skirt, and there is a pin on the back of the flower to remove it from the purse.  The lining of the purse is the maternity pants and just sewed to the inside of the purse below the handles.  Here is the finished product with a ruler to show size and the flower detail and then the inside of the purse.

I hope you liked it and that you respond!  Cheers!

Nice purse. I like the color scheme you went with. It's really retro.

really cool
how did you make the
"yarn" so to speak?

Well, you cut the fabric into 1" strips.  After doing that, you cut little holes in the two ends and attach each strip to each other, and voila!  You have a long fabric strip that you can crochet using a huge plastic hook.

What an original idea, I never would have looked at those items and seen that cute purse, Great job!
