I want to knit some socks from a German pattern, but I'm not sure if I got everything right.

The pattern says:
1 Rd: *5 M li, 1 M re*
2 Rd: *5 M li, 1 M re, dabei 1 R tiefer einstechen, ab * wdh.

So I purl 5, knit 1 in the first round, and purl 5, knit 1 in the second round, while also doing...something else. What does it mean, Eine Reihe tiefer einstechen? Knit into the stitch below? Am I supposed to do this for the entire second round, even the puls? Or just the knit stitches?  Huh

Thank you so much for the quick response!
I'm off to cast on for my socks.
