Gotta find something to do up here in Alaska

Here's my latest hat. I made it for my niece who is 8. I found the flower in a packet at Michael's. The purple yarn looks really dark in the pictures, but it's really a gorgeous angora.

I love your hat!  What a lucky niece you have!

My almost thirteen-year-old triplets (one girl and two boys) want me to knit earflap hats for them before we go skiing in Feb.  Do you mind me asking what pattern you used and what type yarn?

Thanks!
Wanda

Here's the link to the tutorial: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=21234.0
The only tricky part to explain is how to make the triangle ear flaps. I took a second look at the yarn I was using and the green is acrylic from Wal Mart and the purple is baby alpaca brush. The brand is called Plymouth Yarn.

Thanks so much for your reply and a great tutorial.  I'll post pics of all hats when finished (up to four hats now- hubby wants one, too).  I'm off to buy yarn!

Love the hat--it's uber-cute!
Ooh--what did you think of the baby alpaca brush? I've been wanting to make something with that for a very long time--it seems soooo soft!

I really can't remember what brand of acrylic the green is since I bought it so long ago. It's the cheap brand from Wal Mart, I'm sure. I LOVE the baby alpaca. It looks and feels great.
