Somebody forwarded me an E-mail from Interweave Press calling for submissions for crocheted gifts.

vanillaxlight is always stressing that we have to start submitting designs if we want to see more crochet patterns available; so, I thought that this is a perfect for many of us to get our ideas out there.

Here is the flyer.  Originally in PDF form, I have it as a jpg to make it easier to pass on.

You are fantastic for posting this, thank you! I've stickied it. If anyone submits, please please post here! I'd love to recognize any Craftster member who ends up published, or even attempts to get their patterns out there. I'm very tempted to write up a pattern for some new stuff I've been working on, but I lack the time. Good luck, everyone!

I'm wondering how simplistic one of these can be.  I just did a really cute blanket out of two different kinds of yarn, but it was all in hdc and so I'm thinking it might be a little too simple for what they want.  And I don't know if I want to make another one unless they're gonna buy the yarn!!!  Smiley  (Yes, I'm still pretty clueless about things like this)

Celtic_Frog, your project sounds like it'd be perfect to submit.  They're looking for things that are quick to stitch, and yours sounds like it'd work up quickly.  Go for it!

Well I'm getting my stuff together. Hope to mail it this week. *crosses fingers* How do you think I should do a design sketch of a hat and scarf? I"m so confused. The whole thing that's nice about my pattern is the stitch used and I don't know how to draw a scarf (essentailly a long rectangle) with the stitch on it since that's sort of a problem. The hat will be harder. So anyways I have everything else ready just have to do that then will mail it in.
It's a scarf hat set for guys with a nice textured stitch. 1 ball of yarn or 1 and 1/2 balls. Smiley I hope they take it but if not then I have a pattern to send somewhere else or do something with myself. Smiley

Eliea,

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for or if it will be helpful, but when I learned how to crochet using patterns in a diagram rather than in written form, I found things easier to follow.

Maybe the best way to illustrate the pattern would be to draw a simple rectangle for the scarf, and its appropriate measurements.  Then alongside that, you could sketch out one motif or pattern repeat using the appropriate crochet symbols.

Check out this site http://grannys-garret.com/symbol_crochet/symbol_crochet.html to see what I'm on about. Each symbol is explained from the chain stitch through to the triple crochet.

Good luck with the submission! Smiley
