I believe this is from the early 1940s.

I was just telling my hubby that I needed a kneewarmer for when I get in bed at night and the sheets are freezing.  My legs get hot but my knees stay cold. This might be the answer...  Wink

I am glad I saw this. I have never had a problem with cold knees and have trouble imagining such a thing, but having recently crawled around on a hard floor tracing several patterns, I like the idea of having something, anything, that could provide a bit of padding to the knee. Maybe I'll one day make an adaptation of this with padding added to the knee cap. Either that or stop crawling around on the floor.

Cold knees ! You're right ! I couldn't imagine what they were for ! But loved them nethertheless. LOL ! They would be great with stripes. Colorful stripes.
