Hello !
I had a lot of fun with this challenge ...the day after it was announced I had already gotten my "UGLY" item..
Main Ugly - Horrid unflattering 80s emerald green taffeta Formal dress - cost + 3.99
Ugly accents - odd scrunchy olive green taffeta -cost 7.00 for 7 yards ( I used about 1 and half )
and Mystery accents - lil boys old camo pants , small camo scrap and torn up army hat - cost 1$ ( 1 dollar for everything you can stuff in a bag sale ...
so there were my ingredients and for only 12 $
so here are the before pics
so first thing when I got home from the thrift store ..i think " how can I combine these 2 fabrics .. without looking like a leprechaun "?? then It hit me camo ( camo has emerald and olive ! yay !) .. and since I had those few camo items on hand from a sale this summer I thought it just might work ...and quite frankly I am super Happy with the results....
so with out further ado ..
My finished Masterpiece...-( I was able to make/reconstruct an entire outfit..
skirt,corset,hat ,chocker and glove-lettes)
The corset laces twice in the front for "decoration " and once in the back for "function " .. it also has 2 rows of pipping in front and 8!!! bones in the back for structure..
the skirt has 4 layers and features those lil waist size adjusters from ( army pants)on either side to let you adjust the fit .. plus I think it really drives home the " G.I. Jayne" theme ...
these 3 show a good close up of the neck chocker and hat ( the hat had originally had the bill chewed off ) by rats yuk!) so I removed the old bill cleaned the hat and then recreated the bill by cutting the general shape out of an old (sprint) box .. I then simply covered it with the 2 green fabric emerald on top olive on bottom .. top stitched the rows and reattached it ...
and since the whole outfit is separates here is the top worn with jeans for a less" dramatic" everyday look ...
