«
on:
November 30, 2007 12:14:26 PM »
PLEASE READ WHOLE POST BEFORE JOINING SWAP
Organizers: Grieney and Dulcinea
*IMPORTANT PM INFO*: When sending PMs, please label them as OWS 29 with one of the following tags:
Approval
Package sent
Package received
Question
So when sending the questionnaire, the subject will read OWS 29 – Approval. When notifying us about sending and receiving packages, add the corresponding tag. If you just have a general question, label it as that. This will keep things organized for us!
When sending a sent/received PM, please include the 'Send by' date so my craziness will stay at a minimum.

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=6553.0
Please bookmark this thread and/or post here. All updates will be made here and this will help you to keep up with everything.
IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO THE ORGANIZERS VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.
How This Swap Works:
Please READ CAREFULLY! This swap works differently than most!
Try to imagine a chain. The first link is the first person whose wish list is on page 1 (Person A) - that will be the craftster member who was the very last wish list from ongoing wish swap 28.
Now, we want to put another link in the chain. People will read that list and see if there is something they want to/can make from the list.
Someone (Person B) will claim Person A for some item on their wish list. They post a reply to the thread that says “I claim Person A for [item]. This is my X claim (however many times they have picked someone – for example, "this is my fourth wish, with one sent, and three received,” (meaning that this is the fourth claim they've made, one is in transit to it's destination, and three of the items have been received by the people they previously claimed). Also add your location, and any preferences or aversions – “I live in Wisconsin USA, I am a vegetarian, and I am allergic to wool”.
IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU REPLY WITH YOUR STATUS WHEN YOU CLAIM SOMEONE! This means you need to post who you are claiming and for what, how many claims you have made, including how many in transit and how many received, and your location/preferences/aversions.
Then comes the fun part! After the introduction, Person B is the last link in the chain, and they post their wish list!!! YOU CAN HAVE AS MANY ITEMS ON YOUR WISH LIST AS YOU WANT, HOWEVER YOU MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF SIX. THE MORE ITEMS YOU LIST, THE BETTER YOUR CHANCES OF BEING CLAIMED QUICKLY.
(Please have your list ready, this swap moves very quickly! Please include your country at the start of your wish list). Person B will also PM Person A to get her address so they can mail the item when it is finished.
Along comes Person C, who claims Person B for something on their list and the chain is built, link by link. (If Person C wanted to make Person B a purse AND a stuffie, that would still count as ONE WISH.) Then they post their list, and so on.
When you want to make a claim, you can ONLY pick from the very last wish list in the chain. You can't pick anyone else in the chain - you can only connect to the very end of the chain, which is that last wish list posted.
After you have made your claim, you need to PM that person for their address.
Friends of Craftster are allowed 3 wishes at one time, others are allowed 2 wishes. If this is your first swap, you are only allowed one wish until your craft is received for this month. Do not choose over your given limit.
If you already have one claim that will be sent out late, please don't claim again until that one is sent out.
Become a Friend of Craftster! Go here:
http://www.craftster.org/subscribe.php
If you are at your limit of wishes, you can choose again once one of your partners receives, NOT when you send.
***Do not claim someone unless you can fulfill that wish to a high caliber***
Let's keep the quality high here. I don't want to receive PMs with people concerned over the lack of quality of their items. Please, just work your hardest to keep the bar high on the quality of items here! Don't choose just for the sake of choosing; choose to make someone else a really AWESOME wish!
Now if the thread gets in a rut for a few days/hours, the person who made the last wish should add to their list if they can think of anything else, until someone decides to craft for them. Please make sure this is not you!
Unsure of where to find wish ideas? Try the previous ongoing wish swap galleries or any other gallery on craftster. Look through your fellow crafter’s wist lists.
Sending/Communicating/Feedback:
YOU HAVE TWO WEEKS TO GET YOUR ITEM OUT THE DOOR.
Please be communicative if you are having any issues. If you communicate you still need to send your item in a timely manner. Communication does not mean you can send as late as you want.
After one week past the deadline you will have negative feedback.
This is only temporary as it will be changed back once you fulfill your obligation for late item(s). Do not choose to craft an item if you do not think you can meet these deadlines.
THERE WILL BE FEEDBACK FOR THIS SWAP
I will be giving feedback in the following way:
- great swapper: for those who follow all the rules
- good/poor communication: where applicable
- sent late/early: where applicable
- no dc number: failed to comply with the rule about using a delivery confirmation number for packages within your own country
- didn't post pictures: failed to post pictures of what they received without an adequate explanation to their partner

Approved swappers (not on list yet)
Annchen (2 claims)
Liberry Booked (2 claims)
Here is the opening claim for this round.... crafters, start your engines!
Quote from: CrossStitchinMomma on November 30, 2007 11:31:40 AM
Hi! I’m CrossStitchinMomma and I’m live in Tennessee (USA). I’m a married 25 year old SAHM of one. I’m originally from England so any British candy (if you’d like to know what types please PM me!) would be welcome as I can’t get it over here! I love anything to do with Victorian or Tudor England. I love to knit. I know how to cross stitch but it generally takes a long time and I like finishing things quickly. I just bought a computerized sewing machine but it is super intimidating to me so I haven’t really used it yet but I’d love to learn how to sew. Anything from my wist would be great too!!!
Supplies:
Cross Stitch:
BIG HUGE WISH
- 11 count colored (it has to be colored) aida cloth (this is a present for my great grandmother who has bad eyesight but loves to cross stitch - as its a gift please make sure that the aida is in an unopened package) I can't find colored Aida anywhere and I need to send it out for Christmas soon as its going to England. If possible I would like at least one but more than one would be absolutely fantastic!!!
Knitting:
Some yarn that is in these colors...the rainbow colors, or the black, blue and purple or the "Mixed Berries"
http://getknitted.com/acatalog/Shepherd_Sock.html
Some skeins of any soft good quality yarn you can find (my favorite colors are black, purple and I like the rainbow colored yarns too – but any color will do as long as its not turquoise, yellow, orange or anything neon – yuck!)
Thanks Grieney!
I’d like to learn how to knit cables so some cable knitting supplies would be great.
As always needles are great! I LOVE bamboo knitting needles!!! I bought a pair of bamboo circs and I love them!
Thanks DragonflyDucky - she got me a whole set !!!
I'd like some yarn like this
https://www.shopatron.com/product/part_number=MM/570.0.24215.0.0.0.0
or the Chocolate Cherry color from
http://www.claudiaco.com/
<------I would just asolutely love love love to get some of this or another yarn with the same colors(enough to make some fingerless gloves)!
Thanks Dulcinea!
Some beautiful hand dyed yarn with different colors.
Patons Cashmere, Soy Silk, or Wool (please PM me for colors but pretty much anything would be okay)
Any other brand of wool (i.e. Lions Wool, etc) would be great too but again please PM for colors.
Some Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted Yarn for my upcoming project (the Celtic Tote from IK Winter 07) - Please PM me for colors as I'm not quite sure what color I'm making it yet...
Sewing:
If you could find anything with British flags on it that would super great.
Anything with Victorian ladies on it would be great too.
I would LOVE anything with Asian stuff or geishas.
Thanks KittyKill!
I’d like some cute hippie/vintage patterns.
Rotary cutter
Thanks Homerof2 !
Some fabric with four leaf clovers or Ireland (the word Ireland not actually Ireland itself lol) so I can make a purse for my best friend.
Books/Magazines/DVD (used is perfectly fine!):
A beginner book on felting
A beginner sewing book with lots of details, diagrams and descriptions! (I’m a sewing machine virgin!) Thanks contrivant! *I was claimed for this but more help is always welcome!*
A beginner dressmaking/clothing how to book.
I’d like to learn how to crochet so any beginner crochet book.
-Thanks Grieney!
Knitting on the Edge by Nicky Epstein
Knitting over the Edge by Nicky Epstein
Knitting beyond the Edge by Nicky Epstein
Any Debbie Bliss baby/toddler knitting pattern book
Thanks maremare312!
Any funky/hip knitting books like SnB or SnB Nation – stuff like that.
I'd love to have this book!
Mason-Dixon Knitting book (not sure who its written by)
The Knitting Answers book (again not sure who wrote it)
Alternaknits by Leigh Radford
Last Minute Knitted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson
A DVD that shows me how to use my sewing machine!
Crafted Items:
BIG WISH!
I would love one of these to hang on the back of my door! It doesn't have to have the purse handle thing on it...as long as it has something sturdy like that to hang it from.

BIG WISH!
Hanging Star Candleholder (more than one if you want to) (I really like the colors pictured for these but other colors would be okay too - please PM me) -

Some of these socks -

A cute purse with some sort of Irish theme for my best friend who loves Ireland and has a purse obsession. 4-leaf clovers or the word Ireland on something is usually what she likes the best. Maybe a green cordorouy purse with Ireland on it or something like that. PM me for ideas!
The amigurumi butterfly girl shown here -

BIG HUGE WISH
I would love some of these for my hubby! He'll be working in the cold this winter and he loves to listen to music while he's working. Just some handmade earmuffs like this with a spot to put some earbuds or something would be freaking awesome!!!! Black & gray would be fine.
http://www.hammacher.com/publish/72714.asp?promo=el_audio
My mum got these for him for xmas so its off the list! Yay!
BIG WISH ALERT! I would love this but in a different fabric...just plain black fabric would be great! I would just totally love to have this! This would be perfect to organize the stuff in my computer area!
http://www.woolybully.com/poppins.php
Thanks farmgirljane!
A bookweight (sorry this is the only example I could find might be filled with that heavy stuff that stuffies are filled with - not sure what its called exactly)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ysoldateague/446404291/
Thanks Estrata!
I saw this on another wist and I am totally in love with it! I would like one but in black or dark purple material.
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=6394690
Thanks Vala_amaris!
I would love one of these (in black & with the oriental theme would be nice) -
http://www.lanternmoon.com/SNC.asp
A Drop-In or Small Purseket (in cute retro fabric or just plain black or purple would be best) -

Thanks critterpants!
I would totally love this and I would like be your best friend forever (or something like that) if you made this for me! Stained glass Union Jack (this would be great to hang in my window) -
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=6311151
A Union Jack purse (I love this!)
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=6799098
Thanks
I’d love just the British Charm (I love this too!)
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=6732827
Thanks Estrata!
I'd love anything that would help me to organize my small house. I have alot of stuff and hardly anywhere to put it all. Areas that are most in need of organization: My computer desk...its where I spend all my time! I have a lot of crafty stuff but no where to put it.
A mail/bill organizer or a desk organizer with places to put pens, store paper, etc. Something that has at least a few pockets for mail and pens and is long and magnetic. I was thinking maybe something like the beside caddy looking only longer and with more pockets (or like the wall organizer but smaller and thinner with super strong magnets) If you're interested in making this I can go into more detail if you PM me.
If someone knows how to make a lapdesk and would like to make one for me or my son that would be wonderful. They sell these for like $10 at Hobby Lobby too if you need to see what they look like. Theres a pic on this link too - If you are wondering what a lapdesk is its this thing (it doesn't need to have a cup holder and just plain material would be fine)...
http://img.inkfrog.com/click_enlarge1.php?image=ldparislg_(Small).JPG&username=sharps_container_supply&aid=13168672
A coupon organizer
Thanks hdcase!
A crocheted table runner similar to this one in black
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=108428.msg1032287#msg1032287
...it doesn't have to be the same design it can be all circles if you want...in fact I think I would prefer all circles but whatever is fine!
Some black and white photographs of old English churches or houses (preferably the ones made of stone or houses with thatched roofs). I know this one is a long shot but I can dream! Just so you get an idea I’d like them all to be relatively uniform because I want a set of 3 to 5 to put in a photograph cluster on my wall. Here are a few examples:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=7122617
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=7067967
Thanks purpleone!
Misc. Wish List -
A DIY beginner yarn dying kit. A yarn dying how to book would be great too. I love all of these hand dyed yarns that are so beautiful and I'd love to give it a try!
A beginner amigurumi kit. Crochet would be okay as I am learning but if you have any patterns for a knit amigurumi that would be great too!
A little devil amigurumi kit (or it would be nice if someone could just make me the little devil amigurumi!).
Wallflowers (refills or starter kits) from Bath & Body Works - Any scent is good but just not Fig, Cinnamon or anything spicy smelling. I like anything with vanilla the best.
My son is 2 years old and he loves anything with Bob the Builder. He also loves trucks and motorcycles.
BIG WISH!
A Thomas the Train piggy bank or a Bob the Builder piggy bank. Okay pretty much anything thats a piggy bank that relates to tools, trains, trucks, cars, dinosaurs, monster trucks, Fisher Price little people or anything like that would be fantastic! Oh and if it plays music that would be even better!!!!
Fisher Price little people sets (my son has the barn and the ABC school thingie) or the little people by themselves. They can be gently used but new would be awesome!!!
Okay this one is a far out one but I'd really love The Boleyn Inheritance by Philippa Gregory on CD if anyone is done with it and would like to pass it on to me I would be so so so happy!
Thanks in advance to anyone who picks anything from my list!!!

I'm Jana, I'm in Los Angeles. This is my first claim, 0 sent, 0 received.
-Anything from my ever growing wists list.
http://www.wists.com/simplyfussfree
-
Huge wish
I'm giving my boyfriend an oud for Christmas.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oud
An oud case.
-
Another big wish
Handmade brown bear for my mom for one of her Christmas gifts
-
Another big wish
Something crafted of one of the following themes for my boyfriend ( ideas: a guitar strap, a shirt, a sweatband, he oddly wants a decorated lampshade, a small oil or acrylic painting or anything else really ). I told him someone ( Calluna ) crafted something for my sister and he got jealous. :
chemistry
ecology
Zelda
survival type stuff ( like in the wild or whatever )
Lord of the Rings ( not the film )
chess ( a handmade board of some sort? )
Lone Wolf adventure books
running
guitar
Super Mario
oud ( old Middle Eastern instrument )
-A knit hat for my boyfriend. He has a fairly long head so not to short. Olivey green, brown, or black would be good. Maybe a solid color with a stripe. Anything really, as long as it's masculine looking.
-Crafted item on one of the follwing themes. I prefer realistic looking things to more kiddie-ish. Anything with corduroy is always good. Green and brown are always good too. Bags are always lovely, handmade books, shirts, small paintings made by you, are great. As are other things:
Russia
Nesting dolls ( more traditional than childish preferred )
Romania
Poland
A free Palestine
Ferns
The Forest
Trees
Hieronymus Bosch ( I can't spell for beans )
crochet:
-I would love, love, love a lined granny square purse like this:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=6902891
. Navy and white
sewing:
-I love this bag. I'd especially love it if I could choose out fabric and mail it to you or if k8kr8s wanted to make me another in the same fabric as the first because I love it so much.
http://henriettashandbags.com/black_forest_purse_pattern.html
Yay!
-A solid black wrap dress ( size 12 ). Or one in an apple fabric that I have and could send you. I have a wonderful dress from Alwaysinmyroom but am starting to wear dresses and skirts more and could always use more.
-A brown corderoy bag, preferrably fairly large as I carry loads of stuff most of the time
knitting:
-black, navy, or white gloves.
-black, white, or navy mittens
http://vintagestitchorama.blogspot.com/2006/08/frankenmitts_19.html
i really, really want these.
-The eyelet skirt from Knitty on my Wists. I wanted to put it here as it wouldn't let me add any information. I'd like it in green, navy, or black. I'm a M/L or size 12.
-http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall02/PATTbroadstreet.html In black or white please. I can't tell if it has one but if not, if you add a little button to hold them back when I'm letting my fingers be all free and whatnot, I will be your bestest friend...or something.
-The last socks on this page:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=135934.0
-A black cardigan ( slightly long ), I'm not counting on this one but it's a wish list so I thought I'd list it. Or an avacado-ey green one. I think there's one on my Wists.
-Lined Isabeau tote in navy or black
To anyone who chooses to craft for me, thanks loads in advance!
About me: My name is Jana, I'm 27 years old. I just got back from travelling around the Middle East for a bit and am now back in school ( studying anthropology ). I like greens <3 ( foresty/avacado-y ), and browns. I like corduroy and patchwork. I'm in love travelling and am obsessed with Romania, Russia, and Poland. I like forest themed things, Hansel and Gretal, things with trees on them, birds, ferns, bikes, and nesting dolls, Heronymus Bosch. My favorite bands are the Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Portishead, Pulp, Arctic Monkeys, and loads more. My boyfriend lives in England so I travel there a lot. I don't like: metallics, fun fur, yarn with a sheen ( like simplysoft ), when people clip their nails around me, and when people clap at the end of movies.

I would like to claim simplyfussfree for a bag in the themes of ferns, the forest, and/or trees. Hi I'm Liberry Booked and this is my first claim 0 sent, 0 recieved.
Hey I'm high schooler living in California, USA. I love anything cute, cuddly, or brightly colored (except for hot pink...me no likey hot pink). I would like things that I can wear.
Things I would love
Supplies
-Though my parents support my crafting hobbies they don't like -me spending lots of money on crafts...and they won't let me get a job. Not that I have the time.... so supplies are always good.
Shrinky dink paper (preferably the white kind not clear because white looks like it comes out neater).
Exacto knife and self healing mat for stenciling (super big want).
Resin kit w/instructions (i've seen the things people make with resin and now I kinda want to experiment).
Interfacing for bags
Etching Cream Kit (I have glasses to etch, and have no idea what else I need, other than cream which I don't have)
Knitted/Crocheted
-I can crochet, but I'm not very experienced so I'm limited to smaller items.
Knitted wristwarmers- striped ones like these but longer would be awesome
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=203270.0
Amigurumi Totoro! Like this one:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=206245.0
Knitted Knee-length socks (to wear with skirts)
Sewing
- I can sew, but never find enough time or have enough patience
Bags!! The bigger the better. I really like this type from my wists:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=178244.0
A dress, maybe a little under knee length and with no cleavage showing (or my parents wouldn't let me wear it out of the house) A more informal dress would be awesome because I have too many formal dresses and few occasions to wear them. PM for measurements, but I'm between a 3-5 in store sizes most of the time.
A pencil pouch with a cute lining and outside and maybe a cute zipper pull? I like the look of this bag. Different dimensions of course.
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=137930.0
A wallet, preferably trifold. Something cute like this one.
http://www.wists.com/LiberryBooked/34055e18000bc09560bd78300a5b778f
A hoodie! Pm me for measurements because I love longer hoodies, and few of the ones in stores are long enough.
Miscellaneous
- Like it implies, random things that have struck my fancy (that is such a weird phrase).
Glass pendants like these
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=206652.0
Soldered microscope pendants like the ones on my wist. PM me for suggestions for pics inside.
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=39105.0;topicseen
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=185626.0;topicseen
And maybe a wisty surprise, but PM me before picking something...
And thanks in advance to anyone who picks me!!
