So much crafting, so little time...

Lately I've been fascinated with created crochet designs that involve crocheting into holes made in fabric or paper.  This project continues that trend.  The squares on the messenger bag are fabric squares that I sewed together.  I installed eyelets around the edges, and then crocheted into the holes created by the eyelets.  I then attached these fabric/crochet squares together and crocheted the rest of the bag, including the strap.  After this, I sewed a lining and lined the inside and the strap.  The result is a durable, unique messenger bag that combines crocheting and sewing beautifully.

Here's some of the raw details:
Yarns: (I used what I had available) KnitPicks Mainline in Butter Pecan, Elann.com Peruvian Highland Chunky, Lion Brand Wool-ease
Hook sizes: G hook and I hook
Pattern:  my own, which will soon be posted for free on my blog

And of course, here's the FO photos:

the back

it's roomy inside

Thanks!  I ended up uploading them onto Craftster photo hosting, and now they work.  For some reason, neither flickr nor my blog like me very much today  Undecided

This bag is so neat looking! I love your idea of putting holes and eyelets into the fabric and then crocheting into them. I may have to try this on a smaller scale.
