I haven't knitted anything bigger than baby booties for quite a while now (lots of pregnancies at my work place ^^), but my daughter and MIL surprised me last week with a copy of SnB Nation, and I couldn't resist making that adorable bear hat.  ^_^

Researching the yarn online, I found that GGH brand is a bit expensive, not to mention hard to find.  I found a retailer in Davenport, IA that supposedly carried it, but she actually didn't have any in stock, so I'm substituting an eyelash yarn with a worsted weight wool.  I'll be sure to post pics when I'm done!

Oh, and regarding the shop in Davenport...it's called The Yarn Shoppe, and if anyone lives in the area and hasn't been there I highly recommend checking it out.  The lady that owns the shop is sooooo nice!  I didn't know the store closed at 5, and my husband and I were driving up and down Kimberly road trying to find it.  I finally called her at like 4:59pm and explained that I was from out of town and couldn't find the shop.  She said she was closing, but would stay open for me, and gave me directions to the store.  When I got there, she spent at least 15 minutes helping me get everything I needed to make the bonnet and was just generally awesome.  Also, she had really good sales going on.
So, yeah...that totally wasn't what this post was supposed to be about, but I just wanted to pass that along to everyone. ^^;

I have made the russian winter bonnet, and it turned out great.  I used a strand of red heart white and a strand of fun fur that was a bit sparkley.  I live in Iowa and travel all over the state for work, I'm going to davenport tomorrow or the next day will have to check out the shop you mentioned. Cool!  I haven't started my bonnet yet because I got sidetracked with other projects, lol.  I still plan to make it, though (since I spent so much on the circulars for it O_o).
I think you'll really like the yarn shoppe! The lady is so sweet.  I haven't been back there since but I plan to for some after xmas shopping for myself, hehe. Cheesy
