I broke my toe on nov.16 so i have done a lot of sitting. Can't sew cause it's my big toe on the right side and my machine is an old singer with a big button for the sewing pedal.

Anyway i moved my clay stuff to my dining room table and spent some time covering pens and glass ball ornaments. I haven't finished the ornaments but here are pics of my pens.

I also had a bunch of pens that i made with the faux abalone with white clay as a base and i forgot to take pics of them. I really hate when i do that. I already gave them all away.

Faux abalone with black clay as a base

I used the faux abalone technique with red glitter & aqua clay

i loved making these and can't wait to make some more.

Not gonna lie, those are pretty awesome.

What kind of clay did you use, if you don't mind me asking?

Wow, these are beautiful!  I have never seen this done before.  Do you bake them as usual and then glaze them?

Wow thanks guys!!

danitza, I use premo clay. I like to wait until Michaels has them on sale for 99 cents and then i buy a lot.   Cheesy

carrieme, i take out the ink cartridge, apply the clay and bake at 275 for about 15 minutes. I wet sanded them with 400 then 600 grit sandpaper until they were smooth. Then i glazed them with future floor polish. I applied 3 coats to these pens and they are so shiny.

this is the tutorial i used to make the faux abalone
http://www.polymerclaycentral.com/faux_abalone.html
I don't have the interference green pearl ex so i just used one of my other colors and it still came out really cool.

glass attic has a lot of tips for covering pens
http://www.glassattic.com/polymer/pens.htm

if anyone wants to try it and needs any help let me know.

Thanks for the tips!  I did not know about using Future floor polish, I always just use sculpey glaze.  But Future would be a lot more economical.  Thanks for sharing all your expertise, this would be a great project for the kids to try at Christmas.

Your welcome glad i could help.   Smiley

I love the way the future makes everything so shiny. I have never used in on my floors, my husband bought it for his rockets and i used some and fell in love.  lol  Now i want to use it on my floors just to see how pretty they will look.........for about 5 minutes then my kids will no doubt make a mess.   Cheesy
