I found this pattern in a big 80's pattern library, the kind where you collect all the patterns you like and put them in a binder.  It had a weird step halfway through that completely confused me, so I just kept up with the spiral shape until it was a size I liked.

hey i really like this blanket! is it baby- or adult-sized? i like the greens. and that's its a circle, not the typical rectangle.

mostly, though, i'm writing to say your icon is the BEST! is that you/your friends? it's just absolutely brilliant!

re:icon-no, it's just a pic I found that was absolutely hilarious!
It's lap-blanket sized, so would be good for that, or small child blanket.  I like to make really big baby blankets, so the kid can use them for longer, so I consider it a baby blanket size.

You know I actually have a doily pattern like that. It is a great blanket. I like to make my blankets larger too. Great job.

I saw a boy wearing a hat made in that spiral years ago and it still haunts me!  PLEASE share the pattern!

I know I've seen this basic shape as a doily before too.  But I love how it looks as a blanket.  I'll dig through some of my old books and see if I can find it.

Thanks for sharing!

I did find the pattern, but it's in a book that's still under copyright, so I can't share.

"Better Homes and Gardens White Crochet"   In this book, they used thread instead of yarn and joined 347 motifs for a bedspread.
