Any ideas for a beginner knitting project that would attract first time knitter to a class? I have been volunteered to teach a knitting class and the woman who volunteered me  says she was sure I'd come up with something clever and I'm, like,  Undecided

The budget for materials is $10 so, basically one skein of non-acrylic yarn so I was thinking maybe wrist warmer, or keyhole scarf, ankle warmer, I don't know!

I think this could be good to spark interest and looks so easy. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=209609.msg2246297;topicseen#msg2246297

Perhaps a calorimetry? That was my first FO of the non-scarf/dishcloth variety  Tongue

A hat?  You can just knit a rectangle, fold in half, and seam up the sides.

This was my first project. They could either knit the handle or do what I did: buy a bag of key rings in various sizes (or all the same size, depends on the look you're going for) at Hobby Lobby and ring them together to the length you want the strap, sew on, and viola.

I like to do personal swaps now and again.

I knit, crochet, and make stitch markers.

Just pm me if you wanna swap. Smiley

All great suggestions. Kitty's so cute  Smiley After talking with my friend who owns a yarn shop I think I'm going to go with some armwarmers using a skein of Brown Sheep Worsted.
