So when I get all 20 of my cards, I will be hanging them on my wall. Not framed but with photo corners (we have a mirrored wall in the living room that looks kinda tacky). I will show a pic when Im done I hope no one minds!

I received these yesterday:

did not have a number!!

some of the words fell off but i think i placed them where they should go. i love this i wish my job would be ok with my hair being pink!

the handwritten: "I recycled cards from a VBS* I run, but the sentiment still applies"
*I think it's VBS. what is VBS?

on back: "Not until he died."
i cried when i read this one. i could not imagine having such hate towards my grandfather but i did not know your grandfather or the things he did.

VBS stands for "Vacation Bible School" - it's something most churches do over the summer, kind of like a week-long camp

I like this card so much!  Sender, whoever you are, thank you so much for sending me this.

And now, because it seems important to me to say:  I don't want to seem all evangelical about the virtues of diary-keeping (because I keep a diary myself), but I do think it can be very valuable.  If you DO want to keep a diary but feel uncomfortable, please realise that that's normal.  That's part of keeping a diary--it's a tool for growth, for learning about yourself and coming to terms with yourself, and part of that process is that you sometimes have bits you are embarrassed by or find painful or uncomfortable.  I've been keeping a journal for years and I still feel that way sometimes.  The best thing to do is just write it anyway, write fast so you can't censor yourself, and sometimes once you get it out it doesn't seem so bad--or sometimes it does, but it's more manageable--or sometimes it still seems mortifying, but it gives you a place to start.  There's a book called The New Diary by Tristine Rainer that might be useful to you, and I am only a PM away if you ever want to talk.  (That goes for all the rest of you swappers too. )

And if you AREN'T really interested in keeping a diary and were just stating a fact, then please ignore the preceding paragraph.



There are about a billion secrets I'd like to comment on, but I'm going to have to go back through the thread again to do it.  For now, I'd just like to say--to the person who sent the 'I loves me some BEATLES' card--you are my new friend, whoever you are!  I am totally out of the loop with trendy music (or trendy anything, really), because I don't have TV and I can't pick up any radio stations where I live, but I have a permanent and very large place in my heart for the Beatles.  You're not alone!
