This was one of my first sewing projects ever and I loved making it. I still can't get the pics to work, so here are the links.

The outside. I've changed it a bit, now it has a pretty little blue button on.

The inside. I didn't use a velcro as I don't know if such a thing is sold here where I live and, what is more, it was late and I was so excited to finish it that day.

I intended to give this wallet to my friend before starting the project but as I'm not too scrupulous, I was not too sure of the idea. And I accidentally fell in love with the wallet while making it. But then I showed it to my friend and she was like "Oh, that's the cutest wallet I've ever seen!". And so, she now owns a nice yellow wallet with a blue button and no closure 

I think I'll make some more - I loved it.

I loved loved loved making this project. The tutorial is amazingly detailed.  My wallet's not perfect, but I still like it a lot.  Sorry for the kinda icky pictures.

if i was to add a zipper so it could hold coins and bills, what step wuold i add the zipper in? ( did that make sense?)

Hope this link works, 'cause it's my son's new wallet!!!  A snake print I bought from Ebay, and some suede from an old skirt.  He LOVES it (he's 9) and knows it is the only one like it in the world!!!   So, thanks SO much.

If I was doing this, I'd put the zipper in after sewing in the strips that makes the pockets.  Install the zipper like you would for a lined zipper pouch but it will be a bit tricky since you'll be working with just two pieces of material.

If you aren't comfortable putting in zippers, look at this thread for instructions.  Treat your lining and outer material just like in the tutorial for a lined pouch.  When it comes time to attach the zipper on the other side sew slowly because you're going to have to be sewing in a tube to get the lining and outer attached.

After you get the zipper in, open the zipper and turn it all inside out, sew your side seams, leaving a gap to turn again.  Turn the material right side out, and top stitch your sides to close the gap and make them both look nice.
