Finished this a while back, and now that it is getting chilly it has seen a lot of use.

It is Knit Picks Palette, originally in tan. I over-dyed it into about 6 different shades using kool-aid. Knit it us as a top-down raglan, shading the yarn from green to purple.

The best part is it still smells a little of kool-aid.

That looks really cool, you did a great job on it.

The only thing is, it's kinda amazing that a soft drink has enough artificial colours to allow you to dye wool... I wonder what it's doing to your insides >_<

Oh kool-aid is strictly wool only around here...my kids don't even know you can drink it.

That sweater is so pretty! So when you wash it, will the colors fade/change? I always wondered about kool aid dyed yarn...

rofl, well, that's certainly one way of dealing with things. I wouldn't want my kids to drink it, but I think the UK are a bit more aware of it being bad, and our regulations are really strict. Artificially coloured goods are going out of fashion - big candy companies have all had to switch to natural colours because they just don't sell otherwise. :/

No worry about fading...the high acid in the kool-aid lets the dye "grip" to animal fibers. No fading or bleeding.

It is pretty weird, when you dye the fibers the water all the sudden goes clear when the dye grips.

Probably even stranger that the stuff is sold as a food.

Those colors are lovely! My koolaid dyes always come out really bright (though that's what I like....), but this color palette is very mature -- perfect for a sweater!
