Folding the ends over could be a decent option. It doesn't look like it added too much bulk. In the photos on the first page (from the OP), it looks like the insert sticks out at the bottom edge on the pendants, and it does look like it's just held in place by the folded edge (but I'm not 100% sure). So, I think you've got a great method going there, crazydoc (and having a bit of Gandalf magical luck couldn't hurt, either Wink ).

Very nice!! I would also like to see a tutorial. I can kind of see how it's done by looking closely.

CAN PENDANT - ROUGH TUTORIAL

Ok, crafty chicas, check it out.

Here's what you're gonna need:
  • Cool looking aluminum can (for the insert)
  • Ordinary aluminum can (for the "frame")
  • ordinary scissors
  • tin ships
  • metal ruler
  • ordinary hole puncher
  • ordinary can opener
  • tiny Gandalf figure for luck (optional)
  • patience

Here we go!

PICTURE IN YOUR MIND ENTIRE POSTING BY CD HERE.  REMOVED FOR SPACE ONLY

Let's see yours!

~CD~

p.s. I'm thinking a longer version of the above would work just fine for the bracelet. After you're done, you just shape it around a mandrel (or anything roundish of the appropriate size), and you've got your bracelet.

p.p.s. Will be working on the "fold" later this week.

p.p.p.s. I may suck it up and buy one of those cool rivet-making tools. A few fancy rivets would really jazz these up.

p.p.p.p.s. Some sort of protective edging for the ends of the bracelet would probably be a good plan. I'll have to think about that one.

@crazydoc
I know this posting is old as dirt, but I **HAVE** to give a shout out to crazydoc.  Obviously, you rock for this (again, imagine entire posting is quoted above). But I've been on Instructables since forever and ever, amen, and your tutorial is one of the BEST I've ever read.  'Tiny Gandalf figure for luck.'  AWE.SOME.

I'm going to try this later, but basically still snickering over the tute.  I'm off to see what else you may have posted for sheer entertainment value...
