Last year, I discovered that my room gets unbearably hot during the summer because of my west-facing window and for whatever reason, the AC seems to hate traveling to my corner of the house (figures). My mom decided I needed a ceiling fan - I decided that ceiling fans are boring. I grabbed some leftover purple paint from one of my walls (I have four colors on my walls), picked up a brush and attacked.

It's pretty simple, but it's more fun to look at with all the splattering on it.

Great idea, and you can always turn over the blades and do something fabulous to that side, too.  So much better than plain white!

I love glow-in-the-dark things - unfortunately, I can't fall asleep if there is ANY light. I learned that the hard way when I was 14 and put glow-in-the-dark stars on my ceiling. I swear I didn't sleep for five years until I moved.

Thanks for the comments! And doxiemommy, I hate ceiling fans too. But in this case, it was a necessary evil.

That's really cute. I did the same thing with my fan a while ago, but I was going with the theme of my room which was seasons (each wall was a different season) and I tried to make the fan look like a sun with yellow splattered paint. I always liked how it looks splattered when it's off, but when it's on, you can't really tell because it just looks one color.

that is so cool... it reminds me of a dresser i did for my room when i lived at home... lol... light pink & light purple on white...   also one of my friends mom had done one where when the fan was on you saw a secret message ,  but you couldn't make it out when the fan was off...
