Ring Pincushions

I saw some ring pincushions in the quilting section (I think) of a craft shop and loved the idea. I didn't like that they were plain and looked kind of understuffed (I like firm pincushions). So, like all life's great questions, I decided the solution lay in needle felting.


The hardest part is coming up with a design that I can felt in such a tiny space. I can't wait to get more black roving so that I can make one with cherries.

I've never seen a ring pincushion in the UK - only the sort on a wrist strap.

These were new to me too. I think I'm going to like them for embroidery and hand sewing especially.

How cute. It reminds me of an illustration in a book of fairy stories I used to have that showed some tiny magical person sleeping in a walnut shell. I always thought he looked very cozy.
