I swear I learned everything about basic knitting ever from "Knitting for Dummies" - i was really hesitant to buy the thing because i was not cool with admitting my "Dummie" status, but it ended up being the awesomest book ever - i made hats, scarves, socks, it's my favorite reference book ever.  cheers!

I love that book, too.  Anyone that wants to learn knitting should start with that book.

ha! I made a comment before referring to "Knitting for dummies" I didn't know it was an actual book!  I guess there's one for everything!

From the reviews on Amazon, I've almost decided to purchase the Vogue Knitting book to teach myself to knit.  But before I plunk down my hard earned money... does anyone have anything mean to say about it?  Wink

(Here's the link to the book on Amazon:  http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/193154316X)

My mom used to knit some spectacular (yet totally dorky) dresses for me when I was a little girl. The click-click-click was an inextricable part of TV-time when I was growing up! I'm not sure I'm going to bother to learn more than a few basics (I'm way too ADD), but I'd like to know that much, and I do have a vintage knitting machine that the BF found for me at a thrift shop.  I'm hoping that once I understand the basics, I can adapt them for my machine, and avoid the inevitable unfinished hand-knit projects...
