tampon holder with tutorial!
«
on:
November 17, 2007 12:43:13 PM »
EDIT: Tutorial added!
[Tutorial removed at the request of the original creator of this project. Sorry! -- the craftster admin (leah)
]
so i absolutely adore NOCHI's purses, bags, etc...but i especially enjoy her "pursonal" pouches for holding monthly supplies.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/threegreenapples/sets/72157600072608569/
i do not, however, have the funds for such a purchase, so i decided to make my own! i wanted one with a bit more subdued fabric on the outside so as to not warrant undue attention, so i used some scrap tweed i had around.
here you can see it's kept closed with a magnetic snap.
mine's not as neat as the originals, but it works! instead of keeping panty liners/pads on the left side as suggested, i'm keeping a little tin with tylenol in the big pocket.
closeup of my cute scrap fabric!
this was a fun little project.

I also just keep mine in the zippered section of my bag. But this would very cool. I might have to make my own version now!!! Yours is awesome, I especially like the tampon slots.

i don't have many bags with zipper pockets because i'm too lazy to learn how to put 'em in, so this handy dandy holder keeps me from having to let my supplies float free in my bag (which i hate)!

Way cute! I especially like the basic fabric used, even further camouflage when inside a bigger bag.
I've had this on my list to figure out for some time since I don't have funds to purchase one of the beautiful creations from NOCHI.
Would it be possible to post the dimensions of the cutout pieces for this little "bag" or a tutorial?

Maggie - thanks for the link. I've seen them on Etsy and thought they were great but I didn't really want to think too hard and figure out how they are made. Now I don't have to hardly think at all. LOL
Thanks!

Hey! I might be blind but it seems like you're missing one step. Just a thought, but you should probably hem the pocket before you sew it on. I'm pretty sure anyone making this would see that. Just thought I'd mention it. Either way the tutorial is amazing and I'm so glad you put it up

i just measured my tampons and sewed accordingly b/c all tampons are diff sizes so it depends on what brand you use.
