Sorry that was really chopped up.

I was wondering if anyone includes other shop's promotional items when shipping your item.

Like for example, when I sell a necklace, I want to include a small bag with promotional items like business cards, pins, coupons, free items, bookmarks, ect from various sellers that provide me the free material and include it in my shipment.

I figure it's free publicity for the sellers, and hopefully helps me a little bit to.

But my question is would you be offended if you received something like that. Would it seem like junk mail to you? Even if it was a small bag with a friendly note?

Any input would be appreciated.

Also if anyone has an esty shop or website and would like to participate in this with me, please send me either a message on craftster, or my etsy account. poisonousporkipine.etsy.com

Thank you! Grin

Hi.  If received a package that included other people's promo stuff I wouldn't be offended unless I was paying extra postage for it.  I don't like getting unsolicited offers/information from big corporate entities, but I feel differently about small artisan businesses.

That said, I read a thread in the Etsy forums about this recently and the consensus seemed to be that people at best just threw that stuff out, at worst were really annoyed by it.

As a seller, I don't ship other people's promotional materials, but I do my part on sites like TalentDatabase and StyleHive.

I don't like getting that stuff because I don't like to throw stuff away; as a result it just piles up and annoys me if I can't find a use for it; if worthy it will end up at our next garage sale or thrift shop.

I normally pop in a packet with a couple of sweeties, along with my own business card and a couple of other's cards too.
I figure that people who buy from me are likely to be interested in other businesses.
Plus, I like getting business cards in the post when I buy something diy. It shows me other budding designers that can do/make what I can't do!

I wouldn't like anything more than a card though.
