My mom is the most scatterbrained person I have ever met.  Whenever she comes to visit me she always brings all her stuff in baskets (relatively small ones) (she makes them, so she has lots of them) several of them with balls of yarn and knitting needles poking out of them.  So I thought she could use a needle roll for her birthday/Christmas (her birthday is on the 11th).  When I found the lady bug fabric (which was actually a receiving blanket I got at the dollar store) I knew it was meant to be (she's a big fan of ladybugs).  I used this tutorial, http://lupinbunny.blogspot.com/2007/02/needle-roll-tutorial.html.

(the ribbon is a red grosgrain with a yellow rickrack and a thinner white ribbon on top, I think it's the cutest!)

So very cute!  I've made one for my crochet hooks, but I need one for my knitting needles too...  Your post might inspire me to get busy on that!
