pop tabs is fine - that is what they would say in the midwest.  here on the east coast we say soda tabs!

Sorry I've been so lazy about posting photos.  I recieved normashelleyjean's package last week and here's the beautiful frame she painted me.  She painted me a sunset since she felt she wasn't able to get a good sunset photo for me.

I told Shelleyjean that I loved water so much that she could send me a photo of her pool if there werent any bodies of water nearby.  So she informed me that it was covered for the winter but then I recieved this photo anyway.  I think the reflection is pretty.

Also wanted to share here my first two unfortunate attempts at picture frame modification.  Something I've been wanting to try for a long time is eggshell mosaic, have been saving up variously shaded shells for years, and in fact had purchased a few picture frames for this very purpose.  Well, here's what some two hours of work yielded (and another hour's worth on the reverse of that side:


Pretty feeble AND was going to take wa-a-ay too much time.  My next idea held promise of a better outcome: polymer clay.  I had a fun cane I'd made and thought it would be great as a picture frame, so I cut slice after slice, fitting the pieces as I went, then smoothed it all out, and baked:


Guess the particular plastic of that frame was not meant to withstand 275 degrees in a toaster oven.

My ultimate solution involved paper and paint, and here's a close-up detail of one corner (sarasvati, avert your eyes!):


Ahh, much better....
