I'm getting married June 28th, 2008.  I've decided to go way out there and do something that i haven't seen before.  We are having a concert for our wedding. We have rented out a art gallery that has a theatre.  We are having a local band that are friends of ours that will pretty much put on a concert.  Somewhere in the middle of the concert we will get up there and get married. Although i'm not sure how all that will work out yet Smiley I'm thinking about having our "first dance" right after the vows, to our song (which just happens to be by the band that will be playing Smiley ) All the bridal party will be in concert t-shirts.  His side will be in blue, my side in purple.  We are also making our families shirts to wear that will be green.  A friend of mine is designing the shirt to look like the cover of the Beatles Revolver album. I will be in a brown dress that i've found from J-crew and my fiance will be wearing a white tux. Smiley So our colors end up being brown, purple (lavender), blue (light blue) and green (light lime). We have also made converse online that match for both of us.

We are going to use concert tickets as our invitations, we have concert wrist bands made up for when people enter.  We have a electric guitar that we are going to have people sign...then we can use it as wall decoration in our house. Our wedding favors are going to be guitar picks. I've founds some cassette tape bags that i think i'm going to give out as bridesmaids presents.

Any ideas would be greatly welcome....i'm having problems coming up with a cupcake stand holder that would kind of fit the theme...i think something using records might work but not sure how to do it.

Wow, what a great and fun idea. Sounds like you've got it all figured out too!  I can't wait to see pics of all your ideas!  For your cupcake holder...what if you used drumsticks to "hold" up the different layers of records.  Not sure how to attach them though.

You could make those record bowls for candy or something. Although I'm pretty sure they're not food-safe. I like rhettsmommmy's idea too

Hi your wedding sounds like so much fun!

I was thinking about your use of records and maybe they wouldn't be food safe but you could wrap them in plastic wrap and then put food on them. As to make it into a cupcake stand at the hardware store you can find really long screws about 24 ins drill a hole in a 18 x 18 in board screw the screw through it. Then put a record wrapped in plastic wrap down though the screw and cover the base (you could wrap the base in foil first if you want). That would be your first tier. Then take a nut and screw it on to the screw. I would say about 31/2 to 4 in above the first record then put a big washer on the nut. Put another record on to the washer. Then just work your way up. I think if the washer is big enough it should be stable but I would try it out first.
You could do something like posters saying what band was playing with a picture of you and your FH as the guest stars and your bridal party as back up singers. Then it can be posted at the door. I would ask the band if that was ok. That would also work for programs too. Just have it as flyer.

I hope this helps. Good Luck and Congrats!

I like the flier-program idea. I don't think you would need to wrap the records in plastic if you're using it for the cupcakes, unless the cupcakes don't have the little wrappers on them.
And remember, if you do make the record bowls, they'll have a hole in the middle, so you'll have to at least cover up the whole.

What if when you made the records into bowls you made them to fit plastic inserts made for decorative baskets? That way no food and record will touch and you'd still be able to get the effect you want.

here's my idea....
ya' know how some people on here have taken plates and glued them to an upside-down bowls to make a cake plate?
Well, why not glue a record to an upside-down record bowl??  You could experiment to see which would look better as the top, flat part.. a 45 or a 78. (big vs little).
*shrug* I dunno, but it's cute in my mind.

Why don't you flip the record bowls upside down and use the bottom as the stand - then just figure out a way to make it tiered? Should be too hard considering there is a hole in the records??
Awesome wedding theme!
