I made this dress for a wedding I went to this past Sunday. I used Simplicity 3867.

The fabric is from months ago when the Hancock Fabric near me was closing. I've just been waiting for the perfect thing to make from it.

i ran out of time and hemmed it the morning of the wedding with fusible hem tape. it was my first time using hem tape and i was pretty impressed with how easy and well it worked. i will probably redo the hem and stitch it just because i'm not sure how it will wash - but perfect to make an outfit wearable immediately!

Even after taking the skirt in 2 inches, it was still a little big on me. so next time i'll learn not to trust the measurements on the package and make it a size (or two) smaller. Anyone else run into this sizing issue with Simplicity patterns??

I'm quite happy with the way it turned out :-D What do you all think? Good pattern to use again?

It's gorgeous. Looks like it fits you perfect. I love the colors and design on the fabric.

First of all, the dress is gorgeous!

I have also run into that problem with newer patterns.  If you get patterns from the 70's or earlier they're often a tad (less than an inch) smaller, which is sometimes too tight b/c the clothes are already designed snug.  The best solution I've found is to measure the actual pattern and compare the measurements and locations w/ your own measurements.  Good luck!

Lovely dress and great choice of fabrics. I also have size problem with Simplicity pattern. Sometimes it's just easier for me to trace my old clothes instead of using a pattern. Sigh!
