It took me time to go over my fear of the fiber (got my wheel last month, but I didn't get the trick till I saw a real person spinning 2 weeks ago) !


This is my first almost decent yarn. It's merino, spun sunday and monday, plyed yesterday, and then dyed with wilton's food coloring. I am not very pleased with the color. Maybe I'll overdye it and then post it a second time on the dyeing board ! LOL !

Thats awesome! It looks so nice and soft. Next time maybe you could just dye the fiber first.. I find it so much more fun to spin fibers if they are any color but white. Cheesy

Thank you Frankie ! I'll follow your advice. Dyeing is so fun. And nothing has never enough colors for me !

Don't worry ! Mine is overtwisted too ! I just managed to hide it by plying... Plying is fun. Oh I love spinning !

Weddy - Plying is fun!  cuz you can go so much faster and see the results.

I've dyed several things with Wilton's dye, and when they come out too bright, I over dye them with super-strong overbrewed tea.  It tones down the color and makes it a little duskier.  I had a bright, almost neon peach color that I overdyed with tea, and it came out a dusty, toned-down orangeish color.  Not the best, but way better than it was.

Good job on your first yarn.  It looks great.
