Gift ideas for a male nursing graduate

My husband recently graduated from Nursing school, and I would like to make / get him something special to mark the occasion.  Unfortunately, all nursing mementos seem to depict women (except for the 'male nurse action figure', which a friend already got for him). 

Does anyone have any suggestions?

He is 30 years old and his tastes run to sophisticated, sleek and modern.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This probably won't help given his tastes, but anything involving the nurse from animaniacs comes to mind.
Other things to consider depending where he will be working would be a nice pair of white shoes (typically required), so fun scrubs (again sometimes required/ the fun ones sometimes allowed), or maybe just a nice pen or another accessory for work.  Does he like any of the past/present medical themed television shoes/movies, because those could give ideas.

I just thought of something what about some glasses or a travel mug etched/decorated with a nursing symbol?

Depending on what area he will be working in and what he has left from nursing school..

A small light to check pupil reaction
scissors, scissors, and more of those pesky disappear every time you take them out of your pocket scissors...
hemostats.

you could craft a scissor and hemostat holder...
you could use one of those little badge holders, make it personal in some crafty way, and attach scissors and hemostats.

Depending on where he works and if you can sew, why not make him a scrub top? If you can't sew, there are some super simple patterns out there to try your hand at. I work at a nursing home and and scrubs are always things we need!!

ID tag - one for his stethoscope, and a name tag for his scrubs - I've seen nice Fimo ones; you can do it in Shrinky Dinks too.  Just keep in mind they may need to be wiped down with antiseptic occasionally.  If you can sew, you can make him his own scrubs, or at least embroider his name on the pockets of his.  They are very easy to sew.

A personalized mug/travel mug for all the coffee he will need, a water bottle so he stays hydrated, a personalized lunch bag so he can maintain his nutrition - perhaps sticking in a small pouch for a supply of Advil or Tylenol, or the occasional chocolate bar to boost his energy level partway through the shift.  Make him one and call it his First Aid kit, and fill it with things like cartoony bandaids, candy, pain medication, and some magnetic frame pics of you/family/friends that he can decorate his locker with.

Those heatable bean or rice bags to sooth his aches and pains when he gets home.  Coupons for foot rubs and back massages - especially the foot rubs.

My colleagues and I usually refer to them as our brains (ie: OMG!  Has anyone seen my brains?).  When I used one, I printed it on a funky coloured paper so it would not get lost with the other pieces of white paper on the desks.

I'm not a big fan of cloth stethoscope covers anymore because the fabric can absorb stuff and (to quote Colin and Justin) be a repository for all kinds of bodily ooze.  Instead, I have been coveting a couple of these since I saw one of the RTs using one:

An agenda book/calender so he can keep track of his shifts - very important.  I obsess over my schedule - especially when I worked with an agency, to make sure I got paid right.

If he has a locker at his job - a locker organizer for his stash of pens, pencils, scissors, clamps, tape, etc.
