What's the occasion?:  Just because
Relationship to you: Boyfriend (long distance)
Age: 19 (doesn't act like it, does any boy?)
Likes/dislikes:
   - video games
   - wrestling
   - computers
   - Star Wars
Previous gifts: All I've made him is a "50 Reasons Why I Love You" book

He is very sappy and I know he will love anything I make him. Even so, I want to make him something he will actually like. I was think something along the lines of a Star Wars doll (like Yoda). I was going to make him an iPod cozy, but I bought him a case instead.

Another thing I really wanted to make is a mouse cover, that looks like a mouse, perhaps knitted. And a knitted mouse pad. But I can't find any kind of pattern.  Sad

Anything unique that has to do with gaming or computers, I am sure he would love. Any ideas? Thank you!

What about a PDA cover?
If he has to wear a tie, a circuit-board tie tack could be cool.
Personalized CD wallet for his games or apps.
Motherboard clock (there's one on Craftster, somewhere).

I dunno if your boyfriend does the same thing mine does, but he just puts all his game cds on spindles or tosses them around.  So, I've got a bunch of cd wallets that I'm going to decorate for organization (i.e. XBox, PC, and subcategories of PC games).  I always give him organizational stuff because boys are horrible at that.   Cheesy  Maybe personalize some clear boxes with like, logos from his favorite games or in a color scheme from his favorite game system.

are you good at painting/drawing, or editing/drawing on computers?
maybe you could draw/comp edit a picture of you two in the graphic style of his faveourite games?

i think a knitted mouse pad would get in the way, and probably stuff up his mouse, but if he has a wireless mouse (or you can afford to buy him one) maybe make him a "mouse PAD" like a snazzed up little hangout for his mouse (i think that the knitted mouse cover is v. cute!)

You can get a pattern for a mouse cozy at the knitty gritty site at DIY.com

Thanks for the ideas guys! And thanks so much for that pattern  Smiley

He also likes sushi.. I was thinking of making knitted sushi, but I'm really not that good at knitting. REALLY not good Sad I found a pattern for a Yoda doll made out of felt last night, but I've given him dolls before, and I think he's getting sick of them. He is a guy, after all.

You should make him a steciled shirt with something from Star wars, or with a video game theme.  There are lots of stencils of vintage video game imagery floating around on the web!

Hmmm, well if you're good at embroidery, www.sublimestitching.com has sushi patterns.

As for gaming, if he's into retro Nintendo--like Mario, Zelda, Pac Man, etc., there are tons of game crafts on Craftster. Smiley  Just use "Nintendo" as the search query.  Here are some I found:

And a whole swap gallery dedicated to Nintendo:

Good luck! Smiley

make him a sushi floor pillow. like a flat beanbag/stuffing thing that looks like sushi, so he can lean on it when he plays his video games. if he lies on his stomach when playing games, his back is going to kill him after about an hour, but if he's leaning on a pillow, his back will be straighter than if he was propped up on his elbows.

I know this was posted forever ago but is there any tutorial out there for making a sushi pillow of this size?
