i'm a "craftster lurker" and this is my first post and my first attempt at refurnishing!  forgive the links as they seem to think i am a spanner Wink

my boyfriend neil makes fun of me for dumpster diving because i come up with stuff like this:

and this:

finally, after some paint courtesy of my friend noelle's birthday present (michael's gift certificate, yesssss), i was able to do this at the low cost of $0:

and another angle:

Great job!

The close ups look  really bright, but the pic of  it in its new home  looks a lot more toned down. I really like how you have that little area set up.

I love it! So kind of you to save that little nightstand from its cruel fate, give it a make over and a new home! Your boyfriend should be glad he has such an caring and talented girlfriend.  Wink

I actually have the 5 foot tall dresser that matches your nightstand in the before pics.  It was put out into the garage because it was "too ugly" for my stepdaughter.  I believe it's coming out of there, getting revamped, and going into my room!

You did a fantastic job!  And yay for dumpster diving!!!

ZOMG! I have a matching piece to that, too! It looks like it was one end of a vanity or something because there is an unfinished area were maybe originally the vanity top joined the dresser part.

Anyway, I plan on refinishing it too -- turquoise and black.

Oh my God. I totally had that nightstand in my room as a little girl. And the desk. And the dresser. And the other tall dresser. Not only that, but my mother had them in her room as a girl and passed them down to me. I about had a heart attack when I clicked that link: "you took my old furniture!!" ha ha.

Actually my attachment to them is entirely based on sentiment, not aesthetics. Your version is gorgeous! While my 8-year old self might not agree, my 20-year old self likes the refinished one a LOT better. Great job!

Oh! If I could make sense of it all. I wish that I could sing, I'd stay in a melody. I would float along in my everlasting song. What would I do to believe...
