Postsecret is a website located at
http://www.postsecret.blogspot.comThe idea of it is for people to make postcards with pictures and a "Secret" written on them, and anonymously send them to the owner of the website.
The Craftster twist would be that we'd send postcards to each other. You won't get any information about your partner, only their name and address.
You will be sending a
maximum of 20 cards.
Within the US, a (6 inch by 4.25 inch or smaller) postcard costs only 26 cents to mail, a postcard larger than that costs 41 cents. In the U.S. international mail is 90 cents and 69 cents to Canada. Last time, I got a secret from England in an envelope with two (first class?) stamps (they were gold and had a picture of the Queen on them). I got one from Canada with a 93 cent (?) stamp on it.
The Anatomy of a Postcard Your postcard should include at least one image and your secret, which should be written/typed out on the front of the card. Make your cards however you like-- photographs, collage, drawing, painting--or buy postcards and embellish them with your secrets.
You can write a note to the recipient on the back of the card, but that's optional.
Your postcards can all be based around the same secret, or all different. If you use the same secret for multiple cards, please make the visual part of the card different so we have some variety! Also, don't write the same text either.
There have been 2 or 3 Postsecret books published, feel free to use those and the website as inspiration when crafting! The secrets on the website are updated every Sunday.
Questionable Content?Some secrets are not G-rated. I don't want to restrict anyone's freedom of expression, but please realize some people may not want to be exposed to content they may find offensive.
I know there are a lot of kids/teenagers here on Craftster, and I wouldn't want anyone to be embarassed getting a sexual or other adult-themed card in front of his or her parents.
In the swap questionnaire, I have given you the opportunity to state what themes and images you would prefer not to receive. Please use this space, the information will be given to your partners so they know your preferences.
Please DO NOT send any pornographic materials! This is a rule for all swaps on Craftster. Basically, if you would need ID to buy it, don't put it on your postcard.
PrivacyThis swap is going to be anonymous, you won't know what postcard is coming from what Craftster member. However, the system isn't perfectly anonymous, because that isn't possible.
In this swap you will receive a code (like F4) and you will put that on the BOTTOM LEFTHAND CORNER of your postcard on the back side with the address. Please put this on the back of your card, even if it's in an envelope.If it would ruin your life (or someone else's life) if a fellow Craftster did some Internet detective work and figured out which secret was yours, you probably shouldn't be putting it on a postcard for the world to see. This isn't the place to admit you committed a felony or anything.
And if you are one of those people who can't possibly live without doing the detective work, please keep that information to yourself and don't ruin a fun swap for the rest of us.
If you're really worried about someone matching up the postmark on the card with your name, you could send your postcards from a town near yours, from your work, etc.

When you send your cards, you MUST get a receipt from the post office and you MUST e-mail a scan or photo of the receipt to the organizer. Therefore, if you don't have access to a scanner or digital camera, you cannot join this swap.
You must be willing to ship internationally. Between the US and most other countries, a postcard stamp costs less than a dollar, so the cost shouldn't keep anyone from joining.
You may mail your cards in envelopes if you want them to be a little more protected (or perhaps hidden from the eyes of the postman ), but prepare for it to be slightly more expensive than just mailing the cards alone.
I will repeat, you will get a code that you must put in the bottom lefthand corner of the postcard on the back (the side with the address) and not on the image.

Sending Late:If something happens that prevents you from sending your cards on time, that's OK! Just PM me on or before the deadline, and e-mail your receipt when you send. If you don't ship by the deadline and I haven't heard from you, I'll think you bailed and leave negative feedback. Which brings me to my next point...
Flaking:While I hope there will be no flakers, this time around we will know because of the codes. Please don't flake!
On the chance of a flakerPlease take pictures of your secrets so that if someone flakes, they can still be posted (anonymously).
