That's really, really gorgeous!!! I'd love to make that sometime but right now, I have my hands full with gift making.

I saw where it's made bottom up... I wonder how hard that would be to make it top down?  Huh At any rate, I'm adding that to my 'want to make' list Cheesy

Too many projects, too little time!  Cry I want to make this one but I still need to finish gifts and start the Cherie Amour I want. I tend to keep about three projects going at once though so who knows, it might happen!  Grin

Can anyone think of a reason why the body on this sweater could not be knit in one piece?

That's what I'm planning....

I don't see any reason why you can't.  I sometimes prefer knitting in pieces, cause handling 200+ stitches are not my favorite thing to do.Smiley
I just started yesterday in Malabrigo for my mom.
It's fun knit.

I finished bk piece and on to LF.  I am using Malabrigo Tuareg. color way.  I didn't do waist decrease since my mom is a little trapeze shape.Smiley(did the decreases at the bust though).  It's surprisingly fun knit!

It's really not too difficult but you do need to be able to keep track of multiple patterns at once.  Stitch counters help  Wink

Or probably a lot of knitters do this, write notes!!  I made  columns such as; moss stitch row, RLL row, textured stitch row, LLL row and moss stitch row.  As I finish rows, I cross them off.  If that make sense.Smiley

I'm glad others are interested (or have already started) this project.

My notes are color coded, LLL is red, moss is green, RLL is purple, etc.

I did cast on, even though my gauge wasn't exactly spot on, I have gotten past the twisted rib and about 10 rows of the pattern, but I decided I just don't like it.  It is too chunky, not what I want, so now I have to hunt up a different yarn to use.
It never occurred to me to knit the three pieces as one, so I think I will write this out to try to knit it in one piece with whatever yarn I can come up with to do this on.

Koshare:  Maybe I missed it, but what yarn are you using for yours?  It looks great so far.  Smiley

Paton's Classic Wool Merino.  It was on sale last week at Michael's for $3.50 a skein so I could not resist.  An entires sweaters worth for just over $20!

I love this pattern and one day I would like to make it I think that right now I do not have the patience for it though. I cannot wait to see everyone when you are finished though.

I am done with LF and now started RF.  I omitted textured stitch pattern on front pieces.  I am using Malabrigo and it's amazing(you heard that before:)).  I hope my mom looks smashing in this.  hehe.

I love this sweater too.  I'm hitting Michaels on Black Friday, if I can get enough yarn in a color I like then, I might make this my first sweater.  Ok, not first sweater attempt, but hopefully first completed?

I just ordered enough Lion brand Wool-ease in Forest Heather from Joann.com for this.  I'm so excited, it was under $20, so I won't feel bad if it's not successful given it's my first sweater.

I'm probably going to have to make adjustments to gauge and all, so be ready for lots of questions!

I don't think all the balls are necessarily from the same dye lot when you order on-line, so hopefully this won't be a huge problem.  If so, a lot of my friends might be getting green hats for presents in the near future.   Tongue

In any case, I hope it comes soon!

Do you guys think that this could be made out of the new Bernat Cashmere blend? the gauge is the same is you use size 8 needles... I haven't seen many of these finished, so I m curious.

is anyone knitting this at a smaller gauge? If i made the XS i'd have about 3 inches of ease...which is far more than i want! so i'm trying to figure out the gauge i need to get it down to about 1 inch - which isn't so easy since there's 3 stitch patterns. guess i'll have to knit swatches of all of them and calculate. or i could just start and hope it turns out fine Smiley

Unless you are really tiny, I think 3 inches of ease is about what I'd want to see in this style sweater.  Ease does not always mean loose or baggy.  I don't think anything looks worse on a cardigan than buttons which  are pulling so I NEVER make a cardigan with less than 2-3 inches of ease.  Just my opinion of course.

Have you checked out Knitting Dailys Galleries. They show the same sweater on multiple people with ease varying from positive to negative.  It's  very interesting, I'm learning that maybe I should go smaller for pullovers but that my preference for ease in cardigans is a good one. Heres the link:

i am maybe 2/3 of the way through one sleeve... it's going slow because i'm not really in a hurry to finish it so i only work on it on my breaks at work and during my knitting group. i'm using lion cotton ease in taupe... the picture is a lot darker than the yarn really is, but it's the only picture i could get that showed the stitch pattern.

i skipped that folded cuff thing because i hate folded cuffs. i think i might have also misread the pattern and did the moss stitch wrong... maybe. meh, i like it the way it is, so i don't really care! ^_^

From what I can see, it's very pretty!  I am the majority way done with the back and wasn't sure if I'd have the endurance to make it through all the pieces, but seeing your sleeve I definately want to get to those pieces now!  I can't wait to see your when it is done.

I never really paid much attention to this sweater until now. I've got some merino wool that is currently in the form of a sweater that I made a couple years ago & never really liked the way it fit me. I've got it stashed away with a bunch of other yarn & told myself I wouldn't frog it until I found something I wanted to make out of it. This may be just the thing! I've got a couple sweaters on the needles in different stages of completion that I want to finish first, then I'm going to have at it & rip out that old sweater. It's been so long since I got excited about a project, this is great! Grin
