I purchased a lot of old foreign coins to use in jewelry, but they smell...metally. And if I handle them, my hands smell like that. Is there a way to clean them to get rid of the smell, or should I seal them with nail polish/mod podge to keep them from stinking and or turning people's skin green??

i've had a lot of experience cleaning old coins, and you usually can't clean the smell off.  so yes, i would suggest sealing them.  i've used nail polish in a pinch but it eventually wears off, and haven't tried the other stuff on them.  usually i use a spray acrylic sealer or fixatif.
