Just wanted to do a general shout out to see if any clevelanders are here.... I just moved back to go to law school at Case, and miss my crazy feminist friends with whom I used to make t-shirts..
I am a crocheter, and am going to teach myself to knit soon- so if anyone is interested in getting a SnB group together...

So if there are any crafty clevelanders, show yourselves!
... and tell all about where you get your supplies, what you're working on, etc-- because I am madly in search of find cool places to get supplies.

Clevelander here.

I don't really know any crafty people around here either.

My main interests are jewelry making and polymer clay.    I tried crocheting but am not good at it at all.  I just started to try to knit and it was worse.

hi-

there are some great craft supply stores in cleveland/akron area- Pat Catans is the cheapest and has a ton of locations in the area. Hollo's Paper in Brunswick has to been seen to believe- cardstock in every color sold in bundles by the inch (they also have a nice selection of handmade papers).  Its late and I can''t think straight right now, i will post again later...but welcome to the area!

Lakewood here, I am hosting "DIY OR DIE" parties for crafting, knitting, screen printing, sewing, soap making, so forth. I hear there's a s&b sort of thing at Capsule, the bar in Lakewood that some people go to once a week, I want to check it out soon.
My boyfriend and I get most of our materials from Pat Catans, Joanne fabrics, thrift stores, and dumpsters.

I am in Lakewood too!  I have been watching Crafters Coast to Coast all week and they've had a few different screenprinting projects.  I never thought it was as easy at it is.  Just need some equipment now.  I would be interested in crafty parties.  My friends and I were thinking of starting a beading get-together every now and then.

I dont actually live in lakewood, ( i actually live next to the rock hall) but i do all my grocery shopping, etc there...
anyway, i saw the snb and i almost went this week, but i got a cold- so i decided going to a bar was a bad idea.
I've  always wanted to screen print- its the one of the only things ive never done.

anyway, its so nice to know that there are other crafty people around... and i am down with diy or beading parties...

I ran into an old friend from a bazillion years ago and she's somewhat involved with the SNB here.  I have been meaning to go since I ran into her last month and since it's just up the road but haven't gone yet.

I would love to do some crafting with others and learn new stuff too.  I always look for classes (pottery, jewelry making, glass) but sometimes they are just too expensive.  I am hoping to get a kiln shortly and start playing around with clay and painting on plates and stuff.  I saw some really cool fused glass stuff too that you can do in a kiln.  Has anyone tried glass bead making?  That's on my list too.

The West Side Stitch and Bitch that meets at Capsule is a lot of fun with a good mix of people. I have been going since back in September.

River Yarns is a new store in Westlake, across from the Target on Center Ridge Road. Yarns Knit by Sue at 22580 Lorain Rd. also seems good--I had to dash in quick to pick up some Lamb's Pride, so didn't get to take too good of a look, but for a small shop it has a lot and the owner is friendly and helpful.

Some of the shops in our teeny tiny Chinatown can be good--approximate borders are Chester, St. Clair, W. 20th up to W. 40th. I've bought a lot of Joss paper there.

Yet another clevelander here! Tremont/Ohio City area.
Wow... there are quite a few of us! We should arrange a meeting some night at a coffee shop/ bar. Somewhere with a good jukebox. Just to meet one another and make friends. My friends all think I'm a dork for being crafty. I think that they are secretly jealous Wink

I would love to meet up with anyone.  I so need crafty friends.  My current friends really don't do anything crafty.  I need new ideas and influences.

Stinkerbelle, I added you on myspace.  i signed up awhile ago but haven't really used it yet.  see...already learning something new.
