If it makes you feel better, you have it turning in the correct direction to pass it off as a symbol of peace. The Nazi swastika wheels to the right, but yours is is left wheeling. You can just say it's hindu or buddhist :3

nazi! just kidding but my dad has a similar tattoo which is the zen buddist symbol of love which he realized was not a good idea after Vietnam so you can just say the same lol

Apologies for the unhelpfulness of this comment, but this made me laugh SO hard for the LONGEST time. And it's totally something I would do, too... [laughs more]

What pretty work ! and that is such nice Diwali themed potholder.....
Indian Culture has such a strong impact upon the world....a 100yr old+ Cathedral in my home town has that good luck symbol tiled upon its walls in a repeating pattern...any many signs up explaining why they do not paint over the symbols.
yes certain awful events have tainted any version of the symbol..but its a beautifully made piece of work, I would fully go with the dots(buttons maybe) ....maybe in gold or shocking pink; nice festive colours

Oh dear...I must admit I was in hysterics...but the quilting itself is good :-) better than my shirt recon which I proudly put on to find the sleeve was inside out! I had only done the one sleeve at that point AND it was too long- my dad said I looked like something out of Dr Who.  Personally I would add white fabric around the edge so it would just be blue squares and a white edge.

OMG that is hilariously awful.  Smiley  I've noticed some quilt blocks that look that way to me, so I've been sticking with log cabin lately.  Wink

My sides hurt! At least your quilting is beautiful, and you've given us all a good chuckle and a "I've been there" for a couple years!

Before Hitler got a hold of it the swat-sticker was a symbol of good luck- same as a horse shoe or four leaf clover- Shameful he turned it into something so horrible

Thanks for the kind words and the laughter, everyone! It's been...what...3 or 4 years now? Yeah, I still haven't tried another quilting project  Cheesy I'm too scared I'll miss what it really looks like until the very end!
