I made these shadow boxes to display on our guest book table at our wedding.  Each little tag represents a different generation of my husband's ancestors...

And my ancestors...

I love how these turned out.  They took me so long and I had the house taken over with tiny bits of paper forever.  There's a lot of personal touches in all the details of the collage that represents each of our family histories (such as the coat of arms of Nova Scotia, where my husband's mom's family is from).  The photo on the far left of the second collage is my great great grandmother in her nurse's uniform in 1826!
This was such a labour of love - I'm so happy to be able to show it off to all of you!

Some detail shots:

And here's how they were displayed at our wedding reception:

That's extremely cool!  If we have any family pictures prior to my great grandmother on either side, I'm not aware of them.

I know - it was quite a chore trying to dig these up from different family members - but SO worth it.  One day our kids (when we have 'em) will be able to look at these pictures and see who they came from.

wow - they look great!
The funny thing is that last night I made a note to myself to do ATC's out of the family photos that arent' in books!  I was going to do scrapbooking, but I don't know if I'm really up for that.  Thanks to your pics, I feel it's definitely a project to put on my "yes, let's do that" list!

It's so cool that you have a pic from 1826!
