Snarkier than Thou...

I thought I'd finally ask if this ever happens to anyone else here on Craftster... occasionally I will click on a link on this site, and it will open a TON of new windows in my browser, one by one, rapidly... there is no way to just click off of them, they keep coming and I have to shut it down.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Is it a bad link?

The latest was one of the links in the Pillowcase challenge voting thread...I was trying to view them all so I could vote.  It did it to me twice, on 2 separate days.

Any help from others would be appreciated.

We've had some of the Google ads automatically change the page (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=197900.0).  But it was just one page change & definitely stoppable.  Nothing major at all.

It sounds like it's something in your system. Sad

Could you list out your operating system and browser w/version for us, please?

Ummm...technical things are not my forte.  But it's a Laptop PC and I'm using Internet Explorer...

Other than that... I'm clueless. Wink

Huh.... weird... All of these windows that opened up -- were they all Craftster pages? Or all windows for other sites?

I've had exactly the same thing happen to me.  Every time it happened to me was when I would click on a link and then not let the link fully open before closing it.  When I tried to close it, it started opening the same page over and over.  I found the only way to stop it was to shut down my machine with the power button.  I've learned to let pages open fully before trying to close them and it's never happened again.

It sounds like a browser problem. Maybe if you turn on your pop-up blocker it'll stop. You'll need to click when you *do* want pop-ups if you do that.

My pop up blocker is on all the time.  With me (and I think OriginalYouth too), it's not pop up ads, it's actual pages that continue to open.

It doesn't happen a lot, maybe 10-15 times today in the kajillion hours I've spent on Craftster in a year.

I think what Homerof2 said might be a clue for me.... I know I tried to close that one yesterday before it had opened (it was for the voting for pillowcases and I said 'oh, I don't need to see it, I remember which one it was' in my little brain and tried to shut it.

Maybe that is all it is.
