thanks!  Smiley i stitched clear vinyl to the front and red felt to the back of each piece of the box, then i put grommets all the way around and laced it together. the closure is just a button and elastic.

i think next time i will put some ribbon or binding tape around the top before i lace it up just to give it a more finished look.

that reminds me of what my friend had in high school, only not as high tech.

she just took a pop tarts box, covered it in a couple layers of packing tape all the way around, inside and out, the top flaps too, and then just super glued some ribbon on as a strap.  I think she might have also used some velcro on the flaps, since they stoped closing nicely after a few days.

edit:  oh, and she was planning to make one out of one of those small sized cereal boxes that they sometimes sell in stores (not the tiny ones, the medium sized ones), but she never got around to it.
