Hey everyone!  I'm posting another one of the boyfriend's projects.  This started out as part silver ornament, part of my r2d2 obsession, part of his artistic talent, mixed together to create everyone's favorite droid.

Isn't he cute?  I hope you guys like him!

A death star would be so cute!  I hadn't even thought of that.  You could do planets too, maybe, but it would be hard to tell what is what.

No, he's not making any more.  We have a bunch of bought Star Wars (and Trek--ew) ornaments, and he won't make a death star ornament because we already have one that lights up and makes sound and stuff.
I like handmade stuff better, but it's hard to pass up Star Wars ornaments on sale!

I need to make one of those for my boyfriend NOW!  Lol.
What kind of paint did you use?
I've got clear glass balls.  I'm thinking of filling the bottom half with white flaky craft snow, and then painting the top half silver and adding the details.  I know they make glass paint, but it's hard to find where I live.  Did you use regular craft paint?  Did you coat it with a sealer?  I'm afraid it'll scratch off when I'm done.

Thanks!  And tell your bf he did a great job!

He just used acrylic paint.  It will scratch if you are very rough with it, (or if you have really bad, stupid kitties who think it is their own plaything...grrr!)  but otherwise it should be fine.

He didn't coat it with anything, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Two words---sharpie marker.....lol

I couldn't find a colored ornament, so I taped off the center, painted the top silver, and poured white paint into the ornament to coat the bottom half.

The blue on the top part is painted on, and all of the details on the bottom are sharpie markers.
I also sealed mine with an acrylic sealer.
Thank your boyfriend for me for the inspiration!!
